Making cloud servers efficient
Cloud computing has emerged as the dominant platform for delivering scalable online services. Driven by the rapidly expanding global client base and the proliferation of online services, datacenter operators are constantly bringing up more servers. As a result, modern datacenters already occupy football-field sized warehouses and consume megawatts of electrical power, making their current growth trends practically unsustainable. Our research targets software and hardware co-design of high-performance, power-efficient, and compact servers to enable sustainable expansion of cloud computing to the global scale.
